John Negus, Vice President of
Protective Operations
John Negus has been in Law Enforcement and a
Security Consultant for over 30 years. He is a
retired member of the New York City Police
Department after twenty years. Mr. Negus is
currently the Vice President of Protective
Operations where he works with all facets of
Executive Protection Services. This position
encompasses Personal Protection, Threat
Assessment, Management, Security Transportation,
Personnel Development and the various training
areas surrounding these specialties. He is a New
York State Private Investigator and Armed
Security Guard.
Throughout his career he has been involved in
the Consulting and Supervision of Protective
Security, Personal Safety and Threat Assessment
and Emergency Management areas for the past 30
years. He has been involved in the planning and
supervision of numerous high threat, high
profile protective security and intelligence
gathering assignments. In the last twenty years,
he has been a course coordinator and assistant
instructor in numerous Firearms, Tactics,
Protective Security and Emergency Management
courses throughout the East Coast and has
trained numerous Law Enforcement and Security
professionals.
Mr. Negus was assigned as a Detective Supervisor
in the Police Department’s Intelligence
Division, where he was the Acting Commanding
Officer in two units: the Public Security
Section’s Threat Analysis and Assessment Unit;
and the Event Planning/ Liaison Investigation
Unit for (8) months. He then served as the
primary supervisor and Executive Officer in the
newly created Protective Intelligence Unit.
As an Intelligence Division supervisor he
provided Protective Security Services which
included planning and implementing all
protective and security details in and around
New York City. As the High Threat Protective
Supervisor, he worked in conjunction with
Federal agencies for head of state, governmental
official and dignitary visits.
He is certified as an Instructor by the New York
State Municipal Police Training Council in both
General Topics and Firearms, where he developed
and conducted in-service training for law
enforcement personnel. He has worked as an
adjunct instructor at John Jay College of
Criminal Justice, working for the Office of
Special Projects in the Peace Officer Program.
He has instructed a program for the New York
State Department of Corrections, Inspector
General. Past instructor assignments include the
State University of New York at Stony Brook and
Albany in their Basic Police Officer Course, and
at the University of New Haven Criminal Justice
Program.
Mr. Negus has also provided instruction in
surveillance detection, pre-attack indicator
identification, counter surveillance, and threat
vulnerability assessment to the members of the
New York City Police Department, New York State
Police, Emergency Reaction Teams, NYS Department
of Corrections and Inspector Generals
Apprehension Teams. He Instructed Security
Driver evasive/counter-terrorism driving
techniques and procedures in the Personal
Protective Security Course..
